Tournoi Descapitales 2017

A couple of our past GCSEP.EstudentsMegan Smith and Hollie Bawden travelled over to Paris to take part in the Tournoi des Capitales Rugby 7's tournament.

The girls were part of a 26-person squad where they represented Lancashire in the U17 and U18 teams. As part of the competition, the girls played against international teams for France, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan,Germany and the Netherlands, all of which contained girls who played at an international level. On Saturday, the girls played their first round of games over at the Stade Georges Carpentier where besides the warm temperature, the tough surface of astro turf took its toll on the girls' knees.

The girls played really well placing the u18?s in 6th place and the u17's in 7th. This meant clash of the titans would inevitably come on the Sunday. After an early night, exhausted from the playing in the heat and lack of sleep from the Friday night travel the girls were up early and ready for a 9am kick off at the very impressive Stade Charlety, Here the Lancashire u17's were to face the Lancashire u18's. After a victory over the U17's the Lancashire U18's went on to become the winners of the Plate competition whilst the U17's came a respectful 7th position. This was fantastic opportunity for Megan and Hollie to experience playing in France against International teams. An experience that will hopefully see then succeed again in this weekend's county selection trials where Megan will trial for Lancashire and Hollie will trial for Leicestershire. Well done and good luck girls !!
