Year 11 Football
– Richards fires four in second leg surge...

Following last week’s narrow 2-0 first leg victory at Moorside thanks to late strikes from John McAtee and Lewis Barber, the boys returned to action for the second leg on Monday night. On a balmy evening, Walkden set about reaching the Salford Schools’ final and were soon on their way as two early goals from Caleb Richards extended the aggregate lead. The boys played at a great tempo and scored a third when Louis Holt curled a precise effort into the bottom corner. Richards completed his hat-trick just before half time when he rounded off a team move of at least 20 passes, a truly great goal! With nothing to lose, Moorside threw caution to the wind in the second half and were rewarded with a consolation goal. Walkden continued to press and play good football, with Richards adding a fourth after following up his own effort which was saved. In the closing minutes, Walkden added a sixth when Louis Ayre turned in Holt’s cross to complete a 6-1 victory and an 8-1 aggregate success. The boys now progress to their fifth successive final, against the winners of the All Hallows/St Ambrose Barlow semi final. The final will take place on Monday 30th March at Broughton Fields, kick off 4.00pm. Hope to see you all there!
