Year 11 Conway Maths Residential
– 6th-7th February

Conway part two-took place early February with another group of Year 11 students making the journey to Anglesey. As usual there was the standard Chester services stop-off where Mr Phelan bought the world’s smallest coffee and Ross Agius struggled with his bumper box of twenty McNuggets. Leah, Courtney, Bethany and Olivia kept us entertained with their renditions of classic anthems by Whitney Houston, Oasis and Bon Jovi. Were they expecting karaoke in the evening perhaps? After tea, future firefighter Kyle Lawler helped Miss Clegg prepare a campfire before Year 11 took on Conway’s legendary night-lining course. Kyle and Leah led at the front and directed the others perfectly, dishing out orders and instructions when necessary.

Back at base Mr Norton sorted the tunes out with the added bonus of karaoke. Leah took the initiative with the first request then the others came thick and fast. Highlights of the evening included Georgina’s amazing version of Emili Sande’s Clown and Ruth, Amy and friends with Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. The students were up bright and early, had breakfast then joined their groups for revision and outdoor pursuits. Some opted for canoeing and took a tumble into the freezing cold Menai Strait; Emily, Nicole plus both Callums will tell you all about it!

As expected, all students were on fine form throughout so well done Year 11.
