School Games success leads to County Finals

On Wednesday night, our KS3 Badminton team took part in the Level 2 School Games competition at St Ambrose Barlow.

The format of the competition saw the boys seeded from 1-5 and take part in singles and doubles matches against players from St Ambrose Barlow and Oasis Academy. In games against St Ambrose, we won two and lost three games (Tahi Dashti-Ghanbarzdian and Harris McNeil doubles and Leon Bawden and Ben Wilkinson doubles) whilst against Oasis we had more success, winning four games (Dashti-Ghanbarzdian singles and all doubles’ matches) and losing just the once.

The team of Leon Bawden, Taha Dashti-Ghanbarzdian, Harris McNeil, James Whittle and Ben Wilkinson will now go forward to the County Finals on January 13th, venue tbc.

This is a great achievement by the boys and with further practice over the next few weeks’, they should be confident of improving their gameplay and tactics before the next round.
