What talented children we have here at Walkden.

Our pupils, boys and girls, are practising for or competing in sporting competitions across the region and performing incredibly well.

Examples from my Twitter feed this week are; 36 students try out for Coach Simmons’ Junior Basketball team, our Year 9 boys’ Rugby team winning in the RFL Champion Schools’ Plate, our Year 9 girls’ Rugby team win in the SRD Foundation festival (unbeaten), our Senior Basketball team win against Oasis and our KS3 Badminton girls were runners up in the School Games event and go on to the County Final.

Our children have also displayed their amazing talents on the stage this week in our production of The Wizard of Oz. What a fantastic show. We welcomed our local primaries in on Wednesday morning to see the show and they had a hoot. It was like being at a theatre to see a pantomime with the amount of cheering and booing that was going on. It’s a great show, with so many opportunities to take part, either on stage or behind the scenes.

It is a privilege to work here with such talented students and to watch the excellence that my colleagues bring out in these young people.

They are all Walkden STARS.
