Year 10 Rugby

Two from two sets up play-off chance..

Last Tuesday, the Year 10 Rugby team began their season with a five-try victory over Swinton. First half tries from William Toone and Ben Gore gave the boys an early lead before Swinton hit back. With the game in the balance midway through the second half, Toone completed his hat trick and Jack Anderton added a final score to complete a 28-18 success.

This week, the boys made the trip to Wellacre and made it back to back wins with an 18-16 victory. In a tight match, Walkden took the lead midway through the half when Yair Yifrah crossed. Wellacre levelled before Alex Hardman’s try gave the boys a 12-6 HT lead. Wellacre made it 12-10 before a breakaway try from William Toone and Dom Jones’ third conversion extended the lead to 18-10. A third try from the home team made it 18-16 but Walkden held firm in the closing minutes to win again.

SkyTry Festival Stars light up Salford...

Last Thursday night, our Year 9 Girls’ Rugby team took part in the latest SkyTry 7’s festi-val held at the AJ Bell Stadium. The girls won both of their matches without conceding a try to run out comfortable winners, and were then asked to be flag bearers before the Super League match between Salford and Warrington. They then took to their seats to watch the action unfold as Salford lost in the last seconds of the game. Despite a wet and windy eve-ning, the girls thoroughly enjoyed their night out and matchday experience.
