NEW YORK 2017

Due to an earlier flight this year,we had lots of time when we arrived at Newark Airport in New York.

Much to Mrs Dawson's delight,Mr Healey guided the group to Brooklyn Bridge. We got our tube tickets from Grand Central Station, then made our way to the Ferry Taxi to Brooklyn. Disembarking in Brooklyn we had something to eat under the Bridge and walked off any extra calories over the infamous Brooklyn Bridge. We made good time in the heat and got our tickets to tour the dizzing heights of The Empire State Building - still a firm favourite with all students. Day 2 - following Breakfast at The Morning Star Cafe,we used our tube tickets to get to Battery Park and take the ferry to see The Statue of Liberty - visiting Ellis and Liberty Islands. A short walk to The 9/11 Memorial and we had time to get back to the Hotel to change for our appointment with The Phantom of the Opera!

Day 3 - following Breakfast,we made our way to Century 21 and Central Park, then more shopping via Rockefella Centre. In the evening we visited Jekyll & Hyde Restaurant - a themed restaurant which is like no other experience. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the delights before we made out way back to the Hotel.

Day 4 (our final day) - following breakfast we had just enough time to visit Times Square and do any last minute shopping . We were very fortunate to have soaring temperatures and a bit of shopping wasmost welcome for all to enjoy the air conditioned shops!

A very full, busy trip was had by all and some highlights included The Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, shopping and Jekyll & Hyde.

All students were exemplary, a credit to Walkden High School and it was a real pleasure to spend time with them all. Special thanks to MrsWilford and Mr Healey for their untiring dedication and commitment to making this trip outstanding.
