Brown blows Parrs Wood away to set up crucial win...

On Tuesday, our U13 Cricket team travelled to Parrs Wood HS to play their 1st round Lancashire Cup tie. On a very blustery afternoon, Walkden lost the toss and were asked to bowl first. Runs were hard to come by in the slow outfield and a steady stream of wickets kept the home side’s total down. Pick of the bowlers was Lewis Brown who claimed 4-6 in his 4 over spell. There were also wickets for Tom Rawding (1-10), Josh Waring (1-9), Luke Wilson (1-3) as Parrs Wood reached 46-9 in their 20 overs. In reply, Walkden got off to a steady start but lost openers Bentley and Blezard early. With all batsmen getting starts, Rawding added valuable runs before a middle order collapse set the nerves jangling. With Parrs Wood sensing victory, it was left to Tallis Keeler to hit the winning runs with two overs to spare to complete a 3-wicket win. The boys now face Merchant Taylors, Liverpool in the next round with the game to be played next week.

Team: Tom Rawding, Max Mulligan, Lewis Brown, Josh Waring, Jack Green, Koby Bentley, Sam Blezard, Luke Wilson, Tallis Keeler, Jack Morrissey, Zac Trench.
