Happy New Year. I hope 2015 is a great year for you all.

Our students returned on Tuesday looking amazing and well rested. It was a pleasure to see them back in school ready to learn. Following on from my last message of the year, before Christmas, I have been running assemblies this week talking about making sure that we get the basics right so that learning can take place.

I have been talking to our students about the following...

• Having basic equipment of a pen, a pencil, a ruler and a planner – these will be checked every morning by form tutors and are on sale in school.

• Taking pride in their work and keeping books neat and clear.

• Bringing a bag to school that is big enough to carry the books and equipment that is needed for school – man bags are not big enough!!

• Looking smart and wearing uniform correctly.

• Being punctual – to school and to lessons.

• Trying hard, even when something seems really difficult.

These are perennial messages to anyone trying to learn but we will keep on repeating them. Please feel free to repeat them at home and to make sure your child has the right equipment (pen, pencil, ruler, planner, school bag) so that they can get on with learning.

Let’s make 2015 the best year yet.
