Last week Walkden pupils were treated to a whole week of activities to celebrate European Languages Day. This day occurs every year on 26th September and promotes not only other languages but also cultural awareness of the countries which take part.

In lessons and in form time pupils took part in cultural quizzes and learnt new facts about other countries – some even learnt a few new words in another language!

At break and lunchtime pupils were able to sample the delights of a French café – croissants, brioche and pain au chocolat were all on offer. They also had the opportunity to try Spanish tapas on Thursday – this proved to be really popular!

On Friday staff in the Global Zone dressed as a country or a famous European historical or current figure! Pupils had great fun guessing and came up with some interesting answers!

See if you can guess from the photo above – prizes for the right answers! (see Ms Kipling)
