And Finally...

We have started a new Eco Group this term, with a group of very committed students. One of our first actions was to step outside of the school grounds and to gather litter from the neighbouring streets.

Dropping litter is a habit learnt in the buggy when a baby and is hard to shake off if your family do not re-enforce the importance of caring for your environment and of respecting other people’s right to live in a clean community.

In schools and community groups we will continue to educate our students on the need for us to put our own litter in bins. We will also, with our Eco Warriors, see if we can improve the quality of our neighbourhood by picking up what others have dropped. Serving our community is as valuable a quality as a raft of GCSE grades and we are happy to be developing this quality in our students. It is part of our work in developing Thoughtful and Respectful young people.

Thank you to those of you who deal with your own litter and thank you to those of you who are willing to offer service by picking up other people’s rubbish.
