And finally...

I hope you have read the piece written by our Head Girl, Millie Walford, following the attack on Monday evening at the Manchester Arena. It's about the Spirit of Manchester.

I came to this city as a visitor, an outsider, an immigrant. I wanted to escape the small-mindedness and prejudice of 1980s Northern Ireland. What I found in Manchester, and the people of Greater Manchester, was a warmth, an openness, a welcome.

I found a city brimming with energy - world-beating football, the best music, and innovation. A city built on its industrial history but one jostling to get to the front of the queue in the world. A town with confidence and swagger. A town that welcomed me and allowed me to call it 'home' - a place to belong.

On Monday evening and the days that have followed, Manchester has shown the world its true spirit. People rushed to blood banks to give blood. Our emergency services flooded into the Arena to help and to get people to safety. Homeless people helped the hurt and the injured. Taxi drivers and cafe owners gave people free rides home and free food and drink. Our city is built on the energy of the people who are born here and of those who are drawn here - attracted by the amazing opportunities and the big-hearted welcome that they receive. We must pull closer together now as a community and remember that it has been our city's openness and respect for difference that has been one of its strengths. We must cling to our British values of respect and tolerance. This will be how we defeat those who wish to divide us. We must stand together. One city, united.
