Adventures in La La Land

At the end of the half-term week, 48 students took flight to Los Angeles for the GCSEMedia Studies and Drama Enrichment Trip. Providing students with a wealth of learning about the film industry, students visited several attractions and locations as well as participating in a range of activities. Despite the long flight, students were excited to check in to the beautiful hotel and get a good night?s rest before the busy day ahead.

Day one involved heading off to Universal Studios where the Backlot Tour of film sets was an absolute must. The sets of TV?s DesperateHousewives,War of theWorldsand Psychowere explained in detail by our enthusiastic tram drivers ? even the King Kong attack was amarvel! Although it was a chilly day, students enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about how the film studios put together an entire movie.

Another full-on day at Disneyland followed where students immersed themselves in the magic of Walt's original and first theme park. Although thrills and spills were aplenty, there was the possibility to learn about the history of Disney and pop into an animation workshop. The electric light parade and the fireworks were a fabulous and breath-taking end to a long day (the coach was certainly quieter on the way back to the hotel).
