Admission Arrangements

Salford is a community school.  As a result we follow Salford's Admissions' code.  We are lucky that we are able to admit 300 pupils per year group which should mean that parents from as far afield as Boothstown and Farnworth can apply for places with confidence.

At Walkden High School we offer a broad and balanced curriculum, fulfilling all the requirements of the National Curriculum, while at the same reflecting as wide a choice of pathways as possible, to cater fully for all levels of aptitude and abiity.

We operate a one Week timetable made up of five 60 minute lessons a day. From September 2011 until July 2015, we offered 100 minute lessons and after a curriculum review, as a school community, we decided to change to 60 minute lessons.

Pupil Premium

Changes to school funding for adopted children.

Are you a parent or carer of a young person who has been adopted, as a result of leaving care since December 2005?

If so then the school may be able to claim funding from 1st April 2014 to help support the learning and welfare of your child within school as a result of a change in the funding regulations.  In many instances, this funding would be used to support the offer of extended pastoral care, mentoring or more targeted learning interventions where this is deemed appropriate.

If you are the parent of such a young person, please contact Mrs. Croft Assistant Headteacher in charge of inclusion on Claire.croft@Salford.gov.uk or by phone on 0161 975 8048.
